Finally, after 2 years, we were able to go to Maison et Object. The most fantastic exhibition when it comes to table decoration, and, a great reason to go to my beloved France. I get so much energy from a day at such an exhibition, from all the people and all the beautiful table decorations for the home. Purchasing is a little tricky this year compared to previous years. Besides the obvious price inflation (due to raw material and transport costs rising) there has also been fewer products developed. Less stock is being produced and that causes longer delivery times. All this aside, we have managed to find a few jewels at the exhibition.
Cottona has been around already for a good 10 years. From day one we have been making table linen from cotton and from linen, beautiful natural materials that will always have the lead role in our collection. In recent year, we have had many enquiries and demand for a good quality polyester tablecloth, due to the great practical properties. Polyester lasts a long time, its easy to iron and it is resistant to sunlight. Continue reading
Outdoor materials are different compared to cotton or linen, I see often, by home decoration advise on TV, in magazines or online, the most beautiful linen tablecloths on the garden table.
I only ask myself, what do these tablecloths look like after a hot sunny summer? Sunlight and linen or cotton materials are not a good combination. Cotton and linen bleach and fade quickly in the sun. This is why, since the start of Cottona, we have had a good quality outdoor collection, for your garden table, that can withstand the European summers.
In the Netherlands a spring festival is still relatively unknown, but our southern neighbors are big fans of it, as are we. This spring we are covering the spring table with a Terracotta tablecloth. The spring festival is a celebration for children between the ages of 6 and 12. It is used as a substitute for the communion. An intimate party, a party with meaning and a moment of reflection. Pick a colour
Colour really sets the mood. Did you know that customers in a clothing store shop according to colour? That means they first consider the colour and then look at the model. Colour can really determine the ambience, and colour is personal. You can pick one colour theme to style your Christmas table. So, from a Christmas-themed tablecloth to crockery and accessories, you can combine darker and lighter shades of one colour. The French call it ‘ton sur ton’. We see it in fashion and interior design all the time. In Cottona’s new Christmas magazine, table 2 and 4 are examples of ton-sur-ton Christmas table styling.
With the holidays just around the corner, a beautifully set table is a surefire way to create ambience at home. It all begins with a beautiful custom tablecloth. To mark the festive season, we have expanded our damask collection this autumn with two new damask designs: Modern and Floral.
These are times to really show off our cooking and hosting skills. Eating out might have become a habit of ours, but a dinner at home can be great fun as well. It starts with the anticipation; what’s on the menu? Do we cook it ourselves or do we call in a chef? How do we set the table?
It’s springtime again! No change of season makes me happier than when winter turns to spring! For me, 15 degrees, sun and a southerly wind is pure enjoyment. It’s such a great feeling to literally drag winter out of the house. For six months, the wool plaids and dark earthenware settings are replaced by fresh, light colours and materials. This year we’re decking the spring table with striped and checked natural table linen!
You have a large round, oval or rectangular dining table but can’t seem to find a nice large tablecloth anywhere? Does that sound familiar? This hassle was at the heart of what led to the launch of Cottona in 2009. Cottona was born from their own personal needs (and that notion is something that more people will undoubtedly have) and a passion for fabrics and table textiles. Since then, tables are being set all over the world with (large) Cottona tablecloths. In both the consumer and the business markets.
A tablecloth for Christmas is a veritable mood setter. With it, you are setting the scene for a delightful evening. Whether you are looking for a Christmas tablecloth in a standard colour or in a real Christmas colour such as Christmas green or Christmas red… you are sure to find what you are looking for at Cottona.
Styling is made easy with our large selection of table runners, placemats and serviettes.
This will allow you to create a festive air in no time at all. You can opt for a different colour (a white cloth with red table runners is very festive), or instead for colours from the same palette (the colours taupe in combination with basalt from our linen collection work splendidly together).
